Read This Book!

I’m “cheating” a bit today as this post is going to send you to another post I wrote. I just published a review of Todd Billings’ new book The End of the Christian Life: How Embracing Our Mortality Frees Us to Truly Live and you can read it here on my book review blog.

Billing’s teaches in Holland at Western Seminary and is a former next-door-neighbor — he moved a couple of blocks away so now he is “just” a neighbor. Todd was with us throughout Oliver’s cancer journey and Oliver makes an appearance in this new book (and a previous book Todd wrote centered on the Psalms). Todd has multiple myeloma, an incurable cancer, and wonders if he’ll see his young children even graduate from high school. Thus, living with the concept of death is not an abstract concept for him.

The book’s title is great as it really describes what he writes about. I’ve written about the concept of memento mori (“remember your death”) in the past and Todd’s book fits into this. So, read the book review and order the book today — it will be released on September 15.
